About Tuulispää

Tuulispää Animal Sanctuary is a retirement home and rescue shelter for farm animals. Founded in 2012, the sanctuary is currently the permanent home of more than 50 animals. The inhabitants include e.g. horses, cows, goats, chickens, rabbits, pigs and Osku the boar, who has become somewhat of a symbol for the sanctuary. Tuulispää operates on a voluntary basis and promotes environmental sustainability and veganism. During open doors events café Pikku Puhuri serves vegan delicacies. In the future, the sanctuary will also house an animal welfare museum and an ecological store.

In 2014 Tuulispää and its founder Piia Anttonen were awarded two animal welfare prizes, the Topelius Prize for animal protection by the Helsinki Humane Society and the prize for the best act in animal protection in 2014 by the Finnish Federation for Animal Welfare Associations (SEY).

Tuulispää is located in Somero in Southern Finland. Group visits are available by appointment, and open doors events are organized regularly in the summer and occasionally at other times of the year.
